Nagavci: 11 days left to elect the president; Kurti will do everything to secure the election

Vetëvendosje parliamentary group leader Arbërie Nagavci said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will do everything within his mandate to secure the election of the president and avoid new elections.

She announced that only 11 days remain until the election of the president, otherwise the country will go to new elections.

“We have only 11 days to elect the country’s president, otherwise we will go to new elections. At this point it is extremely important that we have all institutions, including the president, fully functional and avoid new elections. I believe that very soon Prime Minister Kurti will make clear the next meetings on how this should be addressed. You know he has been on an official trip where he also presented his and the state of Kosovo’s positions in important meetings, but I believe that even in this remaining period, as until now — since the certification of the election results — Prime Minister Kurti will do everything within his mandate to have functional institutions, elect the president and avoid new elections,” Nagavci said after the Presidency meeting.

Regarding the bill initiated by PDK following the Special Court’s judgment, Nagavci said that Vetëvendosje MPs and other parliamentary groups were not consulted on this initiative.

And for this, Nagavci said that even the defense teams of the KLA leaders were not consulted on this bill.

“Naturally we will give our contributions, but it must be mentioned that no one, as far as I know, from Vetëvendosje — whether MPs or our fellow colleagues — was consulted on this PDK initiative. So this should be an initiative that unites us all. And as I mentioned, not only was no one from the parties — not only from the Movement — consulted on this initiative, but as far as I understand, the other parliamentary parties were not consulted either. From what I heard, the PDK representative stated that it is a group of experts, some experts, whom I don’t know who they are, who gave their contributions. But what is important is that, as far as I am aware, even the defense teams of the four KLA leaders were not consulted on this bill,” she said. /Kp/
