Von der Leyen in Pristina on Thursday, to meet Haxhiu and Kurti

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will start next Wednesday, September 30, a multi-day tour of the Western Balkans. She will make her first stop in Albania, where she will hold meetings with President Bajram Begaj and Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The very next day, Thursday October 1, von der Leyen will be in Kosovo. According to the published agenda, in Pristina she will meet acting President Albulena Haxhiu and Prime Minister Albin Kurti. The topics of discussion have not yet been made clear.

After Kosovo, the European Commission president will continue the tour to Montenegro and conclude it in North Macedonia. As announced, the agenda does not include Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be skipped due to “upcoming elections” in those two countries.

The tour was announced through European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill at the daily media briefing.
