Putin: Ready for talks with Kyiv after the elections, but Ukraine will suffer the consequences of attacks on civilians
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday that Moscow was ready to resume negotiations with Kyiv after parliamentary elections, but Ukraine tried to attack the capital and struck polling centers.
Russia has “recovered from the damage caused by Ukrainian attacks,” Putin added, according to domestic media. Its response to Kyiv’s attacks was so strong that Ukraine called for a ceasefire, the Russian leader claimed.
Russia does not understand why Ukraine attacked the warehouses of e-commerce stores Ozon and Wildberries, he continued, warning that since Kyiv “started attacks on civilian infrastructure, it will now suffer the consequences.”
“All proposals for a peaceful solution are on the table, but Russia must consider which are in its interest,” he added, according to Russian agencies.
Putin also assured that Russia is not preparing for hostilities with Europe. Russia is aware that the rights of Russian speakers are being violated in the Baltic states but is responding with humanitarian means, he added.
The Russian president also welcomed negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. As for his trip to the APEC summit, to be held in Shenzhen, China on November 18–19, Putin said it would depend on the situation inside Russia.
