Rama receives U.S. Congressional delegation, photo with Wendt and the representatives
Prime Minister Edi Rama received this Monday at the Prime Minister’s Office the representation of the United States Congress, in the framework of the American delegation’s visit to Tirana.
Rama shared on social media a photograph from the meeting, where he appears together with the new American ambassador in Albania, Eric Wendt, and the representatives of the U.S. Congress.
“Today in the garden of the Prime Minister’s Office with the representation of the United States Congress (US CODEL)”, Rama writes in his post, accompanied by the flags of Albania and the USA.
The visit of the American delegation comes at a moment when the presence in Tirana of the new American ambassador Eric Wendt, who officially took office on 26 September, is being consolidated.
Earlier in the day, the delegation of the House of Representatives, headed by Congressman Vern Buchanan, also held a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Niko Peleshi. The focus was on strengthening the Albania–USA strategic partnership, cooperation in NATO, regional security, European integration and the expansion of economic relations.
The meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office also comes on the same day that Ambassador Wendt held a meeting with the leaders of SPAK, where the role of independent institutions in the fight against transnational crime, drug trafficking and illegal migration was discussed, which the American side has listed as priorities of President Donald Trump.
