Seven killed in Kyiv by Russian strikes, Putin: We will think carefully about peace talks
A drone strike on an office building in Kyiv killed seven people, including a 14-year-old. The same attack wounded 46 others, the Ukrainian capital’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the teenager held Israeli citizenship and that his mother was among the wounded.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a warehouse used by the American restaurant chain McDonald’s was also targeted near Kyiv.
At the same time, one person was killed in the Odesa region (southwest) in a raid on a postal building, according to authorities.
Firefighters and medical personnel were forced to evacuate seven patients from a hospital in Zaporizhia during a Russian drone attack, which damaged the building and caused a fire. Two people were wounded.
As Russian raids continue with uninterrupted intensity, Vladimir Putin hints that he is not ready to resume peace negotiations for the moment.
“Russia will think carefully before resuming talks, after the Ukrainian drone attacks of September 20, the last day of the parliamentary elections,” the Russian president said.
“Proposals for resuming the talks are, indeed, on the table, but after everything they have done, we will think carefully about how we should respond,” Putin said.
“I would also like to emphasize once again that we are not preparing for battles of any kind with Europe,” he continued, trying to calm concerns that are being expressed in ever louder tones on the eastern flank of the EU and NATO.
