ST. PETERSBURG – Putin: Russia Is Not Preparing for Any Kind of Military Confrontation With Europe

ST. PETERSBURG, Sept. 25 /ATSH-AFP/ – Russia is not preparing for any kind of military conflict with Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today during a press conference at the International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg.

President Putin was responding to statements by several European countries which, according to him, express concern over a possible aggression by the Russian Federation and are therefore preparing for a military confrontation or war with Russia.

“Many people in Europe say they expect an aggression by the Russian Federation and that they must therefore prepare themselves for fighting, for a war with Russia,” the Russian president said.

“But I want to underline once again that we are not preparing for any kind of confrontation with Europe,” he stressed.

The Russian president’s remarks come amid continued tensions between Moscow and European countries, in the context of the war in Ukraine and concerns over security on the continent.
