“The Atlantic”: Cairo Warned Israel Before the October 7 Attack

CAIRO, Sept. 26 /ATSH–ANSA/ – Egypt’s then intelligence chief Abbas Kamel had warned Israeli officials about the possibility of a Hamas attack ahead of October 7, 2023, as The Atlantic reports, citing Israeli, Egyptian, American, Arab and European sources.

According to the magazine’s reporting, on September 26, 2023, Kamel traveled to Tel Aviv and warned that Hamas appeared to be mobilizing.

The sources cited say the window for preventing an attack was narrowing, and that Kamel had recommended Israeli officials offer economic relief to Hamas in order to avoid an escalation of the conflict.

However, Kamel did not give an exact date for a possible attack. According to The Atlantic, it is also unclear which Israeli officials he met during his visit to Tel Aviv.
