Tragedy in Italy: Albanian man dies after falling into an elevator shaft

A serious incident occurred in Padua, Italy, where 51-year-old of Albanian origin, Altin Kokici, tragically lost his life overnight between Wednesday and Thursday at a construction site.

The victim, who was the owner of a construction company based in Sossano (Vicenza), is suspected of having accidentally fallen into the elevator shaft of a building under renovation.

The alarm was raised by his family members, who, having been unable to contact him since the early afternoon hours, used his mobile phone’s geolocation to track him.

Police found his van parked near the site with the door open, while the lifeless body was discovered inside the elevator shaft after officers followed the sound of his mobile phone’s ringtone.

Emergency services and firefighters immediately intervened at the scene, while Italian authorities have launched investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the workplace accident.
