U.S. – Trump: “Fake news has no place in the White House”
Washington, September 26 — U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the American media, following the White House’s decision to deny CNN access to cover the president during a trip to Tennessee, as ATSH–ANSA reports.
“Fake news should not be allowed in the White House. This is a situation that has gone on for far too long, at an extraordinary cost to the country,” Trump said.
In an earlier reaction, the U.S. president had questioned why media that, in his view, spread “fake news” should be allowed access to the White House, naming CNN and MSNBC.
Trump also claimed that, despite his election victory, “almost 100%” of media coverage of him has been negative for years.
The statements come amid the ongoing clash between the Trump administration and several American media organizations over journalists’ access to presidential events.
The issue has also become the subject of a legal battle, as a federal court has intervened over restrictions imposed on some media outlets.
