Veteran reveals why they are not on the Student List: ‘We cannot sit at the same desk with those who call Kosovo independent and Srebrenica genocide’

A war veterans’ representative has revealed in a public video testimony why no veteran appears among the Student List candidates for the upcoming elections. According to him, veterans who had spent months physically protecting the protesting students were offered five to ten places on the students’ electoral list during a student plenum, but they rejected the offer.

The reason, according to his testimony, is deep political disagreement: the veterans, he said, “cannot sit at the same desk with those who call Kosovo independent and Srebrenica genocide.” His statements are presented as the veterans’ representative’s own claims.

His position makes clear that the months-long cooperation between veterans and protesting students did not translate into an electoral alliance precisely because of these political divisions.

The rejection of the offer thus explains why the students’ list of candidates for the upcoming elections includes no representative of the war veterans.
