Visit to France: 600,000 people expected at the Mass the Pope will celebrate in Paris
Pope Leo XIV continues his visit to France this Saturday. He is expected to celebrate a large outdoor Mass at the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
On Friday, the first day of his visit to France, Pope Leo XIV drew huge crowds. According to the Vatican, 300,000 people applauded the Pope as he rode through the streets of Paris in his popemobile.
A little later, 80,000 young people took part in a gathering at the Stade de France stadium in Saint-Denis. On Saturday, nearly 600,000 faithful are expected for the Pope’s giant Mass at the Place de la Concorde, which begins at 15:00.
On Saturday morning, the Pope visited for the first time Maison Bakhita, a diocesan association that welcomes migrants. Several of them, Christians or Muslims, managed to meet him.
The Pope then welcomed the growing number of people being baptized in France during a visit to the Catholic Institute of Paris. Toward the end of the day, he will fly to Lourdes, where he will begin his stay with a prayer.
