Araghchi at the UN: ‘The U.S. Chose Aggression, Threats, Assassinations and Economic War’

“The U.S. chose the opposite path: aggression, threats, assassinations, economic war and the use of force,” Araghchi said. He added that Iran has consistently shown its commitment to international law and diplomacy, even in the face of attacks.

The statements come at a moment of high diplomatic tension, with Iran having presented Washington — through intermediaries — a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and end the war, a plan based on the June 17 Memorandum of Understanding.

Araghchi has held a series of bilateral meetings this week in New York, including with his Egyptian and Saudi counterparts, on the sidelines of the General Assembly, as Al Jazeera reports.
