Caught After Trafficking Large Drug Quantities to the EU: Jasin Avdyli Arrested in Belgium; GJKKO Had Sentenced Him to 12 Years

The State Police announced today that 58-year-old Jasin Avdyli, with two identities, has been arrested in Belgium for international drug trafficking and other serious crimes, such as criminal organization and structured criminal group.

SPAK had been seeking him since 2023, while the GJKKO had issued an in-absentia “prison arrest” security measure on several charges.

Jasin Kala, alias Jasin Avdyli, sentenced to 12 years in prison in Albania under the “339” and “Volvo 4” files, was arrested in Belgium during an anti-drug operation.

He had been convicted for involvement in a criminal group investigated under the “Volvo 4” file.

Among the charges against him was also activity linked to a heroin-processing laboratory in Has. The arrest in Belgium is expected to be followed by the relevant legal procedures regarding the serving of the sentence handed down by Albanian justice.

Interpol has also initiated the extradition procedures.

“As a result of cooperation with counterparts in Belgium, another phase of the international operation codenamed ‘The Wanted’ is finalized.

Arrested in Belgium and detained with the aim of extradition to Albania, 1 citizen wanted internationally, accused by the GJKKO as a member of a criminal group that trafficked and sold large quantities of narcotics in several states.

In continuation of the close cooperation between the specialists of the Interpol Directorate and counterparts in Belgium, during this phase of the international operation codenamed ‘The Wanted’, based on information exchanged in the framework of an investigation into narcotics trafficking, the localization and capture in Belgium of the citizen was made possible:

– J. K. alias J. A., 58 years old, resident of Shijak.

This citizen had been declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana, after the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a decision dated 04.04.2023, assigned him the security measure ‘Prison Arrest’ for the criminal offenses of ‘Production and sale of narcotics’, committed in the form of special cooperation, that of the structured criminal group, ‘Laundering of the proceeds of criminal offense or criminal activity’, ‘Structured criminal group’, and ‘Committing criminal offenses by the criminal organization and the structured criminal group’.

From the investigations conducted by SPAK, the 58-year-old is suspected of having been part of a group that organized the trafficking of large quantities of narcotics and then their sale in various states.

Also, from the investigations it is suspected that the income obtained from criminal activity, this citizen invested in 2 immovable properties (premises), in Shijak.

Cooperation continues between Interpol Tirana and counterparts in Belgium, for the finalization of the procedures for the extradition of the arrested citizen to Albania.”
