Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey meet in New York: ‘common challenges’ in focus

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey met in New York to discuss closer regional cooperation, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held talks with his Syrian and Turkish counterparts, Asaad al-Shaibani and Hakan Fidan, according to a Saudi Foreign Ministry statement published on X.

According to the statement, the ministers discussed ways to “strengthen the capacity to face common challenges”, as well as opportunities to expand economic and trade ties among the three countries.

The trilateral meeting comes at a critical moment for the region, with the U.S.–Iran war entering its seventh month and intensive diplomacy underway in New York to find a way out of the conflict.
