Iran moves strategic defense assets underground: “The U.S. has not achieved its objectives”
Iran has moved part of the army’s strategic capacity into underground infrastructure, Defense Ministry spokesman Reza Talaei-Nik announced on Saturday, as Al Jazeera reports citing Iran’s semi-official Tasnim agency.
According to Talaei-Nik, the goal is to prevent a full understanding of Iran’s defense capabilities and weapons-production capacity. The move comes as the seven-month war with the United States continues and Tehran prepares for the possibility of a new wave of American attacks — President Donald Trump has told aides he expects the bombing campaign to resume after the November midterm elections, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The spokesman claimed the United States has achieved none of its strategic objectives from the war against Iran, including damaging Iran’s strategic standing in the region — instead, according to him, Iran “inflicted costs on the enemy.”
He added that there is a “need to simultaneously strengthen defensive power and the country’s internal capacity.” The warning comes a day after Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military operational command threatened that all American deployment centers and interests in the Middle East would be hit if Washington “makes a mistake” and attacks Iran.
