IRGC commander: Iran is in “full-scale multidimensional war” with the U.S.
The commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Karami, said today that Iran is “engaged in a combined full-scale war” with the United States — a conflict that, according to him, has economic, social, cultural, political, security, defense and cognitive dimensions.
“In the cognitive war, the enemy also uses media and cyberspace to influence public opinion and create psychological warfare,” Karami said, as quoted by the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim.
The Iranian commander also referred to Israeli attacks on occupied Palestinian territories, saying Tehran is “standing against oppression and injustice” and that “this resistance will continue.”
The statement comes at a time when the U.S.–Iran war has entered a new diplomatic phase: Iran has delivered via Qatar a 7-day plan for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while President Trump has rejected the proposal and expects to resume bombing after the midterm elections.
Karami commands the IRGC Ground Forces — the troops that suffered the heaviest blows in the latest U.S. strikes on Iranian targets — and his statement marks the most bellicose tone from Tehran in recent days, as Al Jazeera reports.
