Israeli army says it struck a Hezbollah weapons depot in southern Lebanon
The Israeli army said Saturday it struck a Hezbollah weapons depot in the Sajad area of southern Lebanon, in another escalation of Israeli operations in the south of the country, as Al Jazeera reports.
In a social media post, the Israeli army said the facility “stored weapons used to target Israeli army soldiers operating in the Security Zone, and was struck to remove the threat it posed.” The claim was made without presenting evidence.
The strike comes amid a continued campaign of Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon during the expanded US–Iran war, in which Israel has carried out airstrikes and shelling almost daily in various areas of the country’s south.
Hezbollah has not yet reacted to the latest attack. Both sides have exchanged cross-border strikes since the start of the conflict, while the international community has repeatedly warned of the risk of a full second front in Lebanon.
