Israeli strikes in Gaza continue despite ceasefire: 1 killed, 6 wounded in al-Mawasi

Israel struck an improvised tent in al-Mawasi this morning, killing a 28-year-old and wounding six others, three of them children, as Al Jazeera reports. Emergency services confirmed six Palestinians wounded since dawn today.

Journalist Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, said Palestinians continue to face enormous security challenges and that the “ceasefire” remains extremely fragile, subject to violations every day. This morning Israeli drones were seen over central Gaza and sustained strikes were reported in eastern Deir el-Balah and the northwestern part of Gaza City, where the Israeli military hit a residential apartment and an improvised tent.

From the Palestinian perspective, these airstrikes are seen as a breach of the current U.S.-brokered ceasefire and as a continuation of Israel’s ground offensive.
