Journalist Osman Stafa reports threatening message to police, investigation launched

The State Police structures have referred the procedural materials to the Prosecution Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana, following the complaint filed by Osman Stafa, 34, a resident of Tirana, who stated that he had received a message with threatening content on his social media account.

The message is suspected to have been sent from a fake account. As part of the investigative actions, work is underway to identify the author and to fully document the circumstances of the case.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecution Office for the criminal offenses of “Computer forgery”, “Stalking” and “Threat”, as provided for by Articles 186/a, 121/a and 84 of the Criminal Code.

The investigation continues under the direction of the Prosecution Office, with the aim of fully clarifying the circumstances of the case and identifying the person responsible.

The State Police is fully committed to guaranteeing public order and security, the lives and property of citizens and, in particular, the safety of journalists in the exercise of their duty, responding to every form of threat, intimidation or pressure that undermines their security and freedom to practice the profession.
