King of Morocco condemns Houthi attacks and reaffirms support for Saudi Arabia
King Mohammed VI of Morocco has condemned the Houthi missile and drone attacks from Yemen, saying that “any attack on Saudi Arabia is an attack on Morocco,” as Al Jazeera reports. The monarch sent separate telegrams to Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
In his messages, he stressed that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are an integral part of Morocco’s security. He highlighted the “protection of shared strategic interests” between the two countries.
The condemnation comes at a moment of high tension: the Iran-backed Houthis have struck Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones, while the Riyadh-led coalition has intensified airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
