Maja Janković elected head of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica

Montenegro’s Prosecutorial Council has elected Maja Janković as head of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in Podgorica. The decision was taken at the Council’s 14th session, held today.

At the same session, Marija Kažić and Rajko Lopićić were elected state prosecutors at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office (VDT) in Podgorica.

Council members also reviewed 16 complaints about the work of state prosecutors and heads of prosecutor’s offices: 11 of them were assessed as unfounded, while for two complaints extraordinary oversight was proposed.

One complaint was assessed as a criminal report and forwarded to the competent prosecutor’s office, while another was also forwarded to the prosecutor’s office as it concerned the dismissal of a criminal report. For one complaint it was established that the Council had previously given an opinion on the same matter.

The Council also approved amendments to the Plan for the evaluation of state prosecutors, as well as the Integrity Plan of the Prosecutorial Council and the Secretariat for the period 2026–2028.
