Port of Durrës: 41.3 kg of cocaine seized from Brazil, drugs worth around €2 million

A quantity of 41 kilograms and 350 grams of cocaine was seized at the Port of Durrës, as part of an operation against the trafficking of narcotics from Brazil to Albania. The drugs, with an estimated market value of around 2 million euros, were found in a container which, according to documentation, was transporting chicken meat.

The police operation, codenamed “Anchor 3”, was carried out by the Narcotics Investigation Sector of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Durrës Local Directorate for Border and Migration and the customs structures of the Port of Durrës.

The checks were carried out as part of investigations into a suspected case of narcotics trafficking. Police services conducted a detailed check of a container originating from Brazil.

During the check, 37 packages of suspected narcotic substance cocaine were found on the outer lids of the container.

After weighing, the total quantity of the suspected narcotic substance resulted in 41 kg and 350 grams, while its market value is estimated at around 2 million euros.

According to the Police, this is the third case of an attempt to bring narcotics into Albania through the Port of Durrës, struck within a month.

Meanwhile, the investigative structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate continue their actions for the full legal documentation of the case, determining the origin and destination of the narcotic substance, as well as identifying and capturing the citizens involved in this criminal activity.

The procedural materials have been handed over to the Prosecution for further action.
