Preç Zogaj: The Hague ruling is a legal battle, it requires broad political consensus

Analyst and publicist Preç Zogaj, a guest on the “Trialog” show on RTSH-24 with moderator Alba Alishani, commented on the Hague Court’s ruling on former KLA leaders, describing it as a moment that demands responsibility and political consensus.

“What happened in Kosovo is an event that calls for broad consensus from all sides — a consensus where we unite around a common stance, whether to support this legal initiative undertaken in this specific case by PDK, in line with the legislation. I do not believe it will remain a propaganda-driven initiative; it must be serious,” Zogaj said.

He added that beyond the political debate, the issue is of a legal nature and should be treated as such.

“It seems to me that today, even the son of Hashim Thaçi has something rational; this is first and foremost a legal battle. Politicians in Kosovo, but also here in Albania, transfer their own problems with justice to Kosovo as well.”

Zogaj did not rule out the possibility of errors in the court’s rulings, but stressed that the justice system is built with levels that correct one another.

“I may think the court erred in the ruling it gave or exaggerated the ruling it gave. That is why the justice system is built with levels, so that one level may err and another level eliminates the error of the other level. So the battles are legal.”
