Ramadani: The Special Court law should be voted on today in both readings — “Today is a day of responsibility”
The MP of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Burim Ramadani, has called for the amendment of the Law on the Specialist Chambers to be voted on today in both readings, as Klan Kosova reports. His reaction comes a few hours before the extraordinary session of the Kosovo Assembly, scheduled for 09:00.
In a reaction on social media, Ramadani described the amendment of the law as an institutional act in defence of the dignity of the KLA fighters. “Today is a day of responsibility. Amending the Law on the Special Court is an institutional act in defence of the right and the dignity of those who fought for the liberation of the country. We must vote the law in both readings. Today!”, he said, according to Klan Kosova.
Today’s session is expected to have on its agenda precisely the bill amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers and the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office. Before it, at 08:00, the Legislation Committee reviews the bill at first reading.
The initiative to amend the law was proposed by the PDK, after the judgment of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, which sentenced Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi at first instance to a combined total of 81 years in prison. The Government of Kosovo has assessed that there are no legal obstacles to proceeding with this initiative.
