Two-Hour Lawyers’ Boycott After Attorney’s Shooting in Durrës; 21 Court Hearings Left Suspended

This Friday’s two-hour lawyers’ boycott affected the activity of the Durrës Court.

Sources from this court say that during the boycott hours, 7 hearings had been scheduled in the criminal section, which — except for urgent cases — were affected by the absence of lawyers.

Meanwhile, in the civil section, at the court building in Shkozet, 14 hearings had been scheduled during these hours. In this section the impact was more limited, as representation by a lawyer is not mandatory and parties can continue proceedings themselves.

The boycott was held in protest after attorney Elton Shllaku was shot in Durrës two days earlier, at a venue on the “Taulantia” seaside promenade.
