Yemeni government forces say they struck Houthi columns and ammunition depots in Taiz
Yemeni government forces reported Saturday they struck Houthi targets in Taiz province, in another episode of fierce fighting for the strategic city, as Al Jazeera reports.
According to the report, government forces targeted a Houthi reinforcement column on al-Sitteen road, north of the city of Taiz, as well as positions, ammunition depots and rocket launch sites at the Dhakara and Mawiyah intersections, in the eastern part of the province.
Taiz remains one of the hottest fronts of the Yemen war, with the Houthis advancing toward the city and government forces trying to hold supply lines. The battle for Taiz is unfolding in parallel with clashes on the Red Sea coast and in the Bab al-Mandeb area, where Saudi-backed forces are trying to halt the Houthi advance.
The Yemen conflict has become a central theater of the expanded US–Iran war, with the Houthis — backed by Iran — attacking Saudi targets, while the Saudi-led coalition conducts airstrikes on their positions.
