DUI: Shasivari is delaying the solution — 12 Albanian candidates will take the bar exam in Macedonian again in October
The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has reacted in a statement saying that the issue of taking the bar exam (pravosudni ispit) in the Albanian language remains unresolved, despite the Ministry of Justice’s announcement of a meeting with students and deans of law faculties, as Skopje1 reports. According to the reaction, the October sitting will again go ahead without the requested solution.
In the October sitting, 52 candidates will take the exam in Macedonian, 12 of them Albanians, as stated in DUI’s reaction, cited by Skopje1. “If the exam in Albanian is really ‘on its way to a solution’, why must 12 Albanian candidates take it in Macedonian in October as well?” the party asks.
DUI considers that the consultations and meetings announced by the ministry are not a solution but a further delay. The party recalls that the Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, when he was a professor, had criticised the then Minister of Justice for making it impossible to take the bar exam in Albanian. “Today, as a minister, instead of solving this issue, he asks for even more time, meetings and consultations,” the reaction says.
The reaction calls for an immediate solution for the bar exam in Albanian, not promises or new deadlines. DUI stresses that guaranteeing the use of the Albanian language in this process is a matter of equality before the law, not merely a procedural issue.
