ExxonMobil Chief: Middle East LNG Disruption Will Be Short-Lived — Shell: 36 Million Tons of Supply Lost

The U.S.–Iran conflict has prevented Qatar and the United Arab Emirates from exporting most of their LNG through the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of global supplies previously passed, driving up prices and curbing demand worldwide.

Shell, the world’s largest LNG trader, estimates that about 36 million tons of liquefied gas supply from the Middle East have been lost so far this year — another sign of the blow the war is dealing to global energy supplies.
