Houthis’ “hiding regime”: group says it evades Saudi airstrikes and advances toward Marib

Yemen’s Houthis say they know how to switch into “hiding mode” to avoid direct hits from Saudi airstrikes, while continuing to target the kingdom’s military and oil assets across the country, Al Jazeera correspondent Yousef Mawry reports from Sanaa.

Saudi Arabia has carried out airstrikes against Houthi military mobilization, but the group says this is one of the main reasons it continues to advance in several government positions west of Marib. Marib supplies the country with oil and gas and has a pipeline extending to the port of Ras Isa.

The Houthi advance west of Marib threatens one of the last energy production centers under the control of Yemen’s government, backed by Saudi Arabia. Fighting between the sides is among the fiercest Yemen has seen in years and has forced 125,000 people to flee their homes, according to the UN.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s army today announced airstrikes against Houthi positions in the western coastal cities of Mokha and Dhubab, releasing footage of strikes on vehicles and facilities. The battle for the Red Sea coast continues unabated, while Saudi Arabia has carried out more than 350 airstrikes in recent days, according to Houthi media.
