Huckabee: U.S.–Houthi ceasefire still holds — fighting is “a clash between Saudi Arabia and Yemen”

The ceasefire between the United States and the Houthis is still in effect, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said in a television interview. “The U.S. and the Houthis still have a ceasefire. That is a good thing,” Huckabee said.

“What we certainly have is a clash between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, but it has not really expanded into a broader regional war,” he added, referring to fighting that has intensified in western Yemen and Houthi attacks on Saudi cities.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump said the Houthis had contacted Washington, asking it not to get involved in their conflict with Saudi Arabia. The U.S. and the Iran-backed Houthis agreed to a ceasefire in May 2025, following a U.S. air campaign in Yemen.

The statement comes as Vice President Vance said earlier that the U.S. is concerned about the escalation in Yemen and has spoken directly with the Houthis. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against Houthi targets in recent days, while the UN reports 125,000 people displaced by the fighting.
