IRGC Shoots Down Second U.S. MQ-1 Drone Near Hormuz — Four American Drones Downed in Recent Days

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says it has shot down a second U.S. MQ-1 drone in the airspace east of the Strait of Hormuz — the second incident since Tuesday dawn.

The United States has not yet commented on Iran’s new claims. Earlier, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) dismissed Tehran’s claims that the tanker El Gaia was hit by a naval mine, saying the ship was struck with an Iranian missile and drone.

The drone downing claims come at a moment of high tension in the Strait of Hormuz, where maritime traffic has fallen to fewer than 10 crossings a day and where the U.S. is maintaining a blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has launched ballistic missiles at American warships.
