Kosovo Victims’ Protection Office handled 52 new cases in one week, 47 of them domestic violence

The Office for Victim Protection and Assistance (ZMNV) has announced that during the period September 11–18, 2026 it handled 52 new cases submitted to this office.

According to the published data, of the 52 cases handled, 47 concern domestic violence, three rape, one attempted murder and one case of minor bodily injury.

During this period, Victim Advocates across the Republic of Kosovo also filed five requests for protection orders in court, while seven requests were made for emergency protection orders and two requests for temporary emergency protection orders.

Requests for withdrawal, continuation, termination and objection of protective orders were also registered.

According to the ZMNV, during this period 69 court hearings and 19 prosecutor hearings were held, while 62 legal counsels were provided.

The courts issued a total of 10 convictions, one acquittal and two refusal judgments.

Meanwhile, four cases were referred to the Centers for Social Work, one to the Free Legal Aid Agency, while two case representations were also made at shelters. /Telegrafi/
