Roman Reigns to Face LA Knight for WWE World Title After Beating Penta on Raw

Roman Reigns retained the WWE World Heavyweight title after defeating Penta in the main event of the Monday Night Raw episode held in Mexico City.

According to Bleacher Report, after the match Reigns was attacked by LA Knight, who threw down a challenge to face the champion; Reigns said he accepts the match and will face Knight at the Money in the Bank event.

In the match against Penta, the crowd that supported the masked wrestler was visibly on his side and Penta took risks often during the bout. Nevertheless Reigns managed to recover every time and stay in control, defending the title against Penta’s fast and acrobatic style.

AAA, with Rey Mysterio as general manager, organized an eight-man tournament as part of Raw’s historic return to Mexico to determine the challenger to Reigns; on the road to the main event Penta defeated Laredo Kid, La Parka and his brother, Rey Fenix, to be crowned the number-one contender.

Reigns had previously defended the title against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, but the champion himself admitted that Penta’s lucha libre style presented a particular challenge. In the end, Reigns emerged victorious in an extremely charged atmosphere, while Penta remains an important name on Raw’s main stage and could again have chances for a title shot in the future.
