Heraklion Drama: OFI Rescue 2-2 Draw With Asteras in the 95th Minute
OFI and Asteras Tripolis shared a 2-2 draw in Heraklion after Nikolaos Athanasiou scored the equaliser in the 95th minute, in the fifth round of the Greek Super League.
A dramatic evening unfolded on Sunday at the Theodoros Vardinogiannis stadium in Heraklion, where OFI and Asteras Tripolis drew 2-2 in their fifth-round Greek Super League clash. The hosts salvaged the point at the death, with Nikolaos Athanasiou’s 95th-minute goal.
The first half ended 1-1. OFI took the lead in the 18th minute through Giannis Apostolakis, delighting the home fans, but Asteras reacted quickly and equalised just six minutes later via Federico Macheda, sending the match into the break on level terms.
Early in the second half, Asteras turned the game around: Kalvin Ketu Jih scored in the 50th minute to give the visitors from Tripoli a 2-1 lead, and they looked set for a big away win.
But OFI refused to give up. In the 95th minute, substitute Nikolaos Athanasiou, assisted by Kresimir Krizmanic, scored the 2-2 equaliser and sent the stadium into celebration, handing his team a precious point in the dramatic finale.
