Milo: How I convinced Hashim Thaçi, together with Hill, to sign the Rambouillet agreement

Former Foreign Minister Paskal Milo, a guest on Erla Mëhilli’s “Now” on Euronews Albania, spoke about the Hague Court’s verdict which convicted 4 former KLA leaders. During his remarks, Milo also revealed his conversations with former US ambassador Christopher Hill and former president Hashim Thaçi. Milo said he spoke with Hill often. According to him, together with Hill and former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, he helped the Kosovo delegation sign the Rambouillet agreement.

“I had many contacts with Ambassador Hill, many phone calls and many discussions. I was Albania’s foreign minister at that time and I was also Albania’s representative at Rambouillet. Ambassador Hill, who spoke here, perhaps called me once every two days on the phone wherever I was, to hear what the Albanian government thought. He even called me urgently, and with his and Mrs. Albright’s insistence I went to Rambouillet to help the American delegation convince the delegation of Kosovo Albanians, and in particular Mr. Thaçi, to sign the agreement. So Mr. Hill, I don’t know whether he saw us or not that we were here. At least he should have remembered, as a diplomat, a very useful cooperation that we had at that time and so many conversations, contacts and discussions with him. And therefore, remembering those conversations I had with Mr. Hill and discussions even in the most delicate moments, I would definitely have expected now that he is retired from active diplomatic service, that he would be more open,” he said.
