Hamza accepts Kurti’s invitation for a meeting

The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Bedri Hamza, has confirmed that he has accepted the invitation of the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, for a meeting expected to be held on Friday, as part of efforts to form new institutions.

Speaking to the media after the PDK Presidency meeting, Hamza announced that he had responded positively to the invitation, proposing that the meeting take place at 09:00.

“I returned the letter that the Democratic Party of Kosovo is ready for a meeting tomorrow at 09:00 in the premises of the Kosovo Assembly,” Hamza declared.

He stressed that PDK is ready to participate in political meetings, but underlined that the focus should be on state priorities and not on the distribution of positions.

“I will behave in a responsible and institutional manner. I am not against having meetings, but before we talk about positions, I have said and I repeat that it is very important to talk about priorities, vision for the future, program and addressing the challenges that Kosovo has. If there is no agreement on these, it is not the intention of PDK to have a certain number of ministries, a speaker of the Assembly, the president or any other position,” declared Hamza.

Otherwise, the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement and acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has sent an invitation for a meeting to the leaders of the parties that were previously in opposition.

Government Spokesperson Arlind Manjhuka said that invitations were sent this morning to PDK leader Bedri Hamza, LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku, and AAK leader Ardian Gjini, to discuss the creation of new institutions after the early elections.

“Yes, this morning Prime Minister Kurti sent a letter for a meeting to the three leaders, PDK, LDK and AAK,” he stated.

Kurti sent the invitations for the meeting one day after the certification of the results of the elections held on June 7 by the Central Election Commission.
