Pharmacists’ specialization in biochemistry is protested in front of the Ministry of Health

The change in administrative instruction 02/2026, which allows pharmacists to complete specialization in Clinical Biochemistry, has led to protests by biochemists, who have petitioned the Ministry of Health to change the instruction.

Initially, complaints were addressed through letters.

And now, when they have no answers, Clinical Biochemistry specialists and trainees are protesting against the change in the administrative instruction that allows pharmacists to complete specializations in Biochemistry.

Before the entrance of the Ministry of Health, where they protested, Besar Rexha listed the reasons for the opposition.

“We express our concern about the inclusion of pharmacists as specialists in Clinical Biochemistry, although during the public discussion of this guideline, this category was not included, which makes this change unexpected and unquestionable from a legal perspective,” said Rexha.

Rexha said that there are also differences in academic preparation between these two medical profiles.

“There are differences in academic preparation between general practitioners and pharmacists because general practice is a six-year program with 360 credits, while pharmacy is a four-year program with 300 credits that does not deal with diagnostics at all,” said Rexha.

Sadik Gashi was also critical of the decision of acting minister Arben Vitia.

“We are not interested in having laboratories like gas stations that anyone can access, and then the work is done in a more organized way because not everyone can do all the analyses,” said Gashi.

Specialist Luljeta Hetemi complained that despite their concerns, they received no response.

“Our reactions have been and are known and we have not received any response despite official letters and emails sent to the Ministry of Health,” said Hetemi.

The Ministry of Health did not respond to Dukagjini Television regarding this issue./Tv Dukagjini
